01/02/2006 Monthly Boost February 2006
'Youthful Ageing'
Welcome all to February 2006!
The month of January has had a few of us on the island seeking hot water bottles and electric blankets..much to my dilemma...don’t turn off the thyroid by frying it now, will you?
Apart from some of the cold spells, we have also had lots of press coverage on anti-ageing products. It has been a marvel to read, I do wonder though, are people really reading these articles and rushing out to buy serum oils that cost the earth? Or even the overly priced moisturisers? If so, then they are truly wasting their ‘dosh’. Don’t get me wrong, I totally like the idea of ageing youthfully (is that an oxymoron?), but I was not born yesterday or this century (I wish).
We have soaps and shampoos that still contain products such as sodium lauryl sulphate, toothpaste that still contains fluoride (WOW what a booming industry), facial toners containing alcohol…this is such last century news…we need to move on. Such products are not only the likely cause of non-youthful ageing, but also conditions such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, cancer, diabetes…yes, I am being honest, most of us fall ill due to toxicity not due to old age. Old age is equivalent to toxicity accumulation, you just have to compare the toxic load of a baby to that of a 70 year old to prove that.
So, for the no non-sense types, what I am basically driving towards is that youthful ageing has more to do with what we put in our 'insides'…and yes what we put on our skin, gums, nails etc. does go into our system, so I am not negating the importance of good, organic, ‘toxin’ free cosmetic products, but let's be real here, there is so much that our cells need to regenerate, such as protein, zinc, glutathione, vitamin C, Beta-carotene, omega fats…and can you imagine how much more our cells/bodies require to regenerate YOUTHFULLY?..you got it, 'muchas more'.
Our cells regenerate and renew according to our nutrition and the health of our detox system (yes, this does include the bowels..they always come in somewhere, but also the liver, gall bladder, kidneys, skin, lymphatic system). So why not get all the above nutrients from good nutrition and decent nutrient supplements (not these buy one bottle and get another for half price…just does not cut it amongst us nutrient snobs). How much selenium can one truly get from an overly priced ‘blob’ of a fancy moisturiser/serum oil?…and to further add it is never the first listed ingredient (the order of the listed ingredients equates the order of concentration of that ingredient).
What about other vital skin boosting nutrients such as glutathione, DHA, ..of course you will not find these in such products as they would go off…so why bother with the fancy ingredients that really don’t do much? Especially if the diet is 'hay-wire' and the detox organs are pickled with alcohol or in shock from caffeine over-load.
So what is the secret ingredient or diet plan..you may now be asking, well sorry to burst your bubble but, there is no one specific secret diet or ingredient…but there are the basics for youthful ageing..ready…....one is being of African descent…OK, I know that maybe what some call ‘teasing’, but you have to admit it, being African does help..what great skin! …OK, so if you are not of African descent, then maybe Indian descent?....
But honestly it basically means addressing:
- Poor dietary intake
- A stressful lifestyle
- Mental/emotional imbalances
- Internal toxic load (such as hydrogenated fats, caffeine, fungus, viral etc)
- External toxic load (such as junk cosmetics, tap water, medications, micro-waved food, mobile frequencies, near railway station cables or mobile cell stations etc)
I see youthful ageing as ageing without illness (such as arthritis, cancer, diabetes). What’s the point of having radiant wrinkle-free skin, when we may be riddled with crippling arthritis and ‘dosed’ up with symptom-controlling drugs? Does not paint a pretty picture, I must admit.
We offer a customised nutritional plan along with various detox procedures to help you age youthfully and ‘healthily’. As we now know one can not age youthfully without vibrant health anyway. For further information please email us at info@khushmark.com
To healthy ageing!
