01/01/2005 Monthly Boost January 2005
Toxic Love
I hope you had a relaxing break and welcome to 2005. We hope your 2005 will be full of love, joy and good health.
This is the month when most people decide to go on some weight loss or detox type programme, to only re-tox a few weeks or months later. It baffles me to think that most of us think that detoxing is about depriving our selves for a few days or weeks and living on some low fat diet or some crazy vegetable or fruit fast. The poor adrenals and liver probably dread the start of the New Year, ‘what torture!’ If this is your plan, just read on and you may save your self or some one else from this self imposed punishment.
So what is toxic? …toxic components known as toxins can be divided into roughly three groups;
1. Chemical Toxins:
…oh yes we hear about these a lot but most of us don’t do much about them. Such chemicals would include, perfumes, colognes, heavy metals (such as mercury, aluminium), toothpastes, bleach, cleaning products, facial products, pesticides, petrol fumes (gas to some), air fresheners and so on. There are millions of women who spend a fortune on cosmetic products who are literally intoxicating themselves daily (several times a day for some). If you find it hard to believe that what you put on your skin can affect you internally, then you may just be tempted to try the following BUT take CAUTION, do not do this when romance is in the air; One night before going to bed rub a bit of a clove of garlic onto the sole of your foot. Next morning you will taste the garlic! In the UK, on December 23rd there was a front page article in The Times entitled ‘Household Chemicals direct link to Asthma’…Why does it take sooooo long for such important articles to be published?
2. Biological Toxins:
these include, fungus, bacteria, parasites, virus infections
3. Emotional Toxins:
such as anger, unforgiveness, resentment, hatred, low self esteem and so on
So you may just be thinking, ‘well who is not exposed to such toxins and what do you expect me to do…go and live in some remote jungle?’…of course not…but I am sure that you can implement some life-style changes by doing some of the following to reduce the toxic burden on your body:
- Stop carrying a mobile phone next to your gonads…after all there is a lot of DNA production going on down there!
- Don’t spray the home with all kinds of weird and un-pronounceable ingredient containing products
- Saying NO to amalgam fillings (the silver/grey ones that contain mercury…whatever your dentist says)
- Ensure that you have at least 2 bowel movements a day…otherwise these toxins just re-circulate in the body
- Do not drink tap water unless it is filtered
- Eat organically grown foods …struggling to believe this…just try some organic chicken and ‘oh my gosh’ note the difference not just in flavour but texture, cooking time etc.
- Ensure that children under 7 years of age are not swallowing more than a pea sized amount of toothpaste that CONTAINS fluoride (usually occurs when brushing their teeth). Unfortunately, most parents are not aware of the negative effects of fluoride on their child's health
- If you are a golfer, you should think about implementing detoxing into your daily lifestyle
- Avoid all 'decaff' coffee that has been decaffeinated chemically
- Do not consume hydrogenated fats..that includes cooking with vegetable oils especially those from plastic bottles
These are just a few starters to be getting on with.
One of my clients came to see me in February 2004 due to severe migraines (at least one every two days). She had not had any migraine attacks for the last 6 years (having had changed her nutritional intake as well as some detoxing) and was petrified that she would have to re-live them again. After much intense ‘troubleshooting’, it turned out that nothing (and I mean nothing) had changed in her life, no new home, no painting, still at the same job for the last 10 years, no new make up, no toxic love, etc. All that had changed was her mobile phone. I asked her not to use her mobile phone for the next week…and 2 days later…no more migraines. Unfortunately, mobile phones are not recognized as a health hazard at present ('not enough evidence' we are told…hhhmmmmm) but I am sure when our grand-children are adults the story will have changed. It sounds very much like the mercury issue…does it not? If the government were to accept that mercury is a poison, then ‘goodness gracious me’ the dental health industry will be penniless.
To a healthy 2005!
